This morning’s post has brought me the DVD that I ordered from the Jane Austen Centre in Bath, titled ‘Crazy About Jane’, an exclusive behind the scenes look at the events and characters of the annual Jane Austen Festival in Bath…featuring ten fantastic days of costume, music, drama, dancing, food, film, celebrities, fashion, talks, tours and fun.  It was being filmed, last year, when we went along for the Grand Regency Promenade.

After watching it, and regularly pausing, and ‘re-winding’, I can honestly say that I have thoroughly enjoyed it!!

Actor, Chris Grimes, takes us through events leading up to the Jane Austen Festival, introduces the people behind the organising of it…from festival director David Lassman, the costumers at Farthingales, Master of Ceremonies John White, Martin Salter from the Jane Austen Centre, costume specialists, musicians, dance instructors, tour guides food experts and all manner of other interesting people, as well as those who participated in the events.  Oh, and I was in it, too, a couple of times (once during the Promenade, and with Vi watching Steps in Time in the Circus)

An excellent DVD…highly recommended.

I wasn’t in costume when this DVD was filmed…it was the first time we went, in 2007. Seeing all those lovely costumes made me determined to get my own costume made, so that I could join them.
