About
Roundgowns & Reticules is not just a costume blog, but will be about all things Napoleonic/Regency/Empire…including some of today’s festivals and re-enactments, TV and film, and books, etc.
I have loved all kinds of costumes since I was a child, from the fairy princesses, to all things Victorian, then refining my interest to the more elegant Regency with the discovery of Georgette Heyer’s novels. The interest in all things Napoleonic came from my dad, whose love of military history and collecting militaria fascinated me as a child…he even had a couple of large framed prints of Waterloo, that I still covet.
I have now added a Links page, where I will add links to my favourite websites, pages, and spaces, so keep checking in to keep up to date with everything, and Photographic Album, Video page, as well as an Events page. 😉
nice site…
Thanks…still a lot of stuff to add, as it’s mainly costume, books and events at the moment. Must get around to writing blogs about people, places, military and naval, etc. But I’m not really in a proper research and write mood at the moment!
Since we discovered Steampunk, I have been re-discovering my ‘Victorian’ past, costumes and drawings I did when I worked at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life back in the 1980s, so I am thinking of starting another blog…when I can think of a suitable name for it. Until then, I shall continue to write my Victorian posts here.
